The company was founded in 1903 as the Andersen Lumber Company by Danish immigrant Hans Jacob Andersen and his family in Hudson, Wisconsin; it was renamed Andersen Frame Company in 1929 and took its present name, Andersen Corporation, in 1937. Its first Minnesota factory was built at South Stillwater, now Bayport, in 1913, and the company has been based there since. Andersen states on its corporate site that it employs more than 12,000 people and operates across more than 30 manufacturing, distribution and retail locations positioned to serve every region of the United States.
