ByteDance Ltd.
ByteDance / TikTok
ByteDance holds fifth place on the Life & Services Brand Authority Index with 96/100 and appears on no other table in this round. The company does not publish audited group accounts, but the revenue figure it gives investors is about US$186.0 billion for 2025, up roughly 20 percent from US$155 billion a year earlier and well above the US$32.2 billion entry floor of the 2025 Fortune Global 500. ByteDance is the reporting parent itself, so it does not inherit scale from any larger group, and no unit below it carries the fifth place upward.
The product matrix reaches more than 2.5 billion monthly users, of which TikTok alone accounts for 1.6 billion; Douyin reports more than 850 million monthly users in China, and CapCut, sold as Jianying at home, holds above 350 million. That reach is the asset the score rewards. Advertising inventory, live-commerce commissions, in-app purchases and software subscriptions convert attention into revenue without a factory or a storefront, and about 99 percent of the total sits inside digital services.
China contributes roughly US$115 billion from Douyin, Toutiao and the surrounding apps, while overseas operations have grown to about US$71 billion, almost all of it TikTok advertising and TikTok Shop. Group net profit passed US$50 billion in 2025, and in one quarter revenue of about US$43 billion briefly exceeded Meta's. The comparison matters because it shows the advertising business has reached the scale of the Western platforms it competes against.
The technical base is a recommendation engine refined at a scale few rivals can match, and it is now tied to a model stack. The Doubao family handles Chinese and multimodal workloads and consumes trillions of tokens a day, Seedance generates video and Trae writes code. ByteDance runs its own large data centres in Ireland, Norway, Malaysia and Indonesia plus thousands of Volcano Engine edge nodes, a decision to own the compute layer instead of renting it.
Commerce is where the two sides of the platform meet. TikTok Shop and Douyin Mall put a checkout inside the same feed that produces the content, with fulfilment run through consolidated parcels, contracted trunk capacity and last-mile partners instead of company-owned warehouses. Local life group buying adds restaurant and service bookings in several Southeast Asian cities. The model is light on fixed assets and heavy on data: the seller list and the viewer list grow together, and each side makes the other more useful.
Political risk is concentrated rather than general. TikTok operates under a US law requiring divestment, and the legal and structural negotiations around it continue; European regulators have opened investigations into minors' protection and feed design; tariffs and customs rules affect cross-border parcels. ByteDance answers with local data centres, local hiring and a private ownership structure in which founder Zhang Yiming holds more than 50 percent of voting control while Sequoia, SoftBank's Vision Fund and Coatue hold minority stakes. The fifth place rests on consumer reach and the advertising economics behind it, not on an inherited position.
