Accenture plc
Accenture
Accenture ranks fourth on the Life & Services Supply Strength Index with 97/100. Revenue for the fiscal year ended 31 August 2025 was US$69.67 billion, 2.16 times the US$32.2 billion admission line of the 2025 Fortune Global 500, and the figure comes from Accenture's own accounts. The placement does not inherit from any parent company, and no part of the group inherits it from Accenture. Adjusted operating margin held at 15.6 percent and free cash flow reached US$10.90 billion.
The business has no factory and almost no product to sell. What it sells is work delivered by 779,000 professionals, and what makes that model function is the contract backlog paying for them: new bookings of US$80.62 billion in FY2025, a record, split between consulting at US$37.64 billion and managed services at US$42.98 billion. Revenue divides almost evenly between consulting at about US$34.0 billion and managed services and business process outsourcing at about US$35.6 billion, and the second half is the more durable one because multi-year outsourcing contracts renew without a competitive tender each time.
Accenture has held the largest share of global IT services and digital consulting for several consecutive years and takes more than 8.5 percent of the market for ERP replacement and cloud migration outsourcing, the two engagements large enterprises cannot insulate from a spending freeze. Its client list runs past 9,000 large enterprises and sovereign institutions and includes more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500. That installed base is why the company can price at a premium: replacing an integrator in the middle of a programme costs a client more than paying the rate.
Delivery is organised as a network rather than as a headquarters. More than fifty advanced technology delivery centres sit in Bangalore, Manila, Poland, Dalian and other talent clusters, supported by more than twenty digital innovation studios, and the company works across 120-plus sovereign countries. The offshore mix is the cost structure: an hour of consulting sold in New York or Frankfurt can be built in Bangalore or Manila, which is how a labour business sustains a 15.6 percent adjusted margin while paying developed-market salaries to the partners who win the work.
Generative AI has become the fastest-moving line in the backlog. Accenture booked US$5.90 billion of generative AI work in FY2025, nearly double the prior year, and it has placed dedicated AI engineering laboratories alongside Microsoft, AWS, Google and NVIDIA so that client architecture work happens with the platform vendors rather than after them. The company's position is that model providers sell capability while Accenture sells the migration, governance and process redesign that turn capability into something a bank or a health system can operate.
The risks are cyclical and structural at once. Public-sector clients and traditional financial institutions in North America and Europe pulled back on discretionary consulting spending, and the company ran a six-month workforce and business optimisation in FY2025 that cost about US$865 million. On the structural side, clients increasingly ask whether AI can perform the work Accenture bills for; the answer so far has been to buy capability rather than build it, completing the acquisition of the British AI firm Faculty in March 2026 and, earlier, the European SAP implementer McCoy. The 95 prices in the backlog and the delivery network, and it assumes migration work keeps arriving faster than the tools get easier to use.
