Alibaba Group Holding Limited
Alibaba
Alibaba Group ranks seventh on the Life & Services Brand Authority Index and seventh on the Life & Services Supply Strength Index with 94/100. Fiscal 2025 revenue was about US$142.4 billion (RMB 996.35 billion), up 6 percent, with adjusted EBITA of RMB 158.12 billion and net income of RMB 129.47 billion. That revenue is the group's own, more than four times the US$32.2 billion entry level of the 2025 Fortune Global 500, and scale does not pass down from any parent to it.
On the consumer side the group runs the largest retail marketplace in China. Taobao and Tmall together reach more than 1.35 billion annual active buyers worldwide, and the 88VIP paid membership has passed 50 million, a tier that bundles discounts across shopping, food delivery, video and travel. Revenue from Chinese retail commerce exceeded RMB 430 billion. The brand's hold on shoppers comes from selection and price: a marketplace with millions of sellers gives buyers a reason to open the app for almost any category.
International commerce is the faster-growing part of that franchise. AliExpress, Lazada and Trendyol make up the international digital commerce group, which turned over more than RMB 115 billion and grew above 20 percent, with the Choice service consolidating cross-border orders. Ele.me and Amap cover food delivery and navigation, while Hema and Tmall Supermarket handle grocery and same-hour delivery, which turns a shopping platform into a daily habit.
Alibaba Cloud is the enterprise half of the company and the reason it belongs on the supply table as well. The division reported revenue above RMB 118 billion, up 11 percent with the quarterly rate accelerating to 18 percent late in the year, and holds first place in Chinese public cloud infrastructure with a share of 36 to 38 percent. More than four million paying business customers run on it, including most of the country's artificial intelligence start-ups. Qwen, the open-weight model family, has the largest download base of any Chinese model and is used both as a paid service and as a free foundation others build on.
Cainiao provides the physical layer. The network operates smart hubs in Liege, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, more than 30 overseas sorting centres and 800 trunk routes, and its cross-border service delivers from Chinese industrial clusters to major overseas markets in about five days. Warehousing runs to millions of square metres, owned and bonded. Alibaba Cloud operates 30 regions and 89 availability zones, and group employment is 124,320.
The pressures are competitive and regulatory. Pinduoduo and Douyin have taken share in lower-priced segments and subsidy spending continues, instant retail and food delivery remain in a price war that weighs on local services margins, and the end of small-parcel duty relief in several Western markets raises costs on the Choice cross-border route. Capital spending on AI clusters and logistics has pulled free cash flow back from its peak. The group returned US$11.9 billion to shareholders in the year, holds net cash of RMB 366.4 billion and kept Cainiao and the cloud unit inside the group after dropping plans to list them separately.
